Looking towards the point and Dobroyd Aquatic Club.

Iron Cove, looking south-west.
Cross above Rodd family mausoleum, hewn by convicts from a single rock. Plaque says cross was returned here in 1973, having been moved with the bodies to Rookwood Cemetery in 1903.
Looking west back along the point.

Named after Rodd family settlers, not to be confused with Von Trapp family singers. Also known as Vault Point due to the fact that most of the Rodd family settled for the last time in the mausoleum on the point. Don’t worry, their embalmed bodies were removed and re-interred at Rookwood Cemetery.

Brent Clements Rodd had 12 children and many of the local streets are named after them. Rodd Island, also named after Brent Clements Rodd, was used by scientists sent by Louis Pasteur to investigate ways of eradicating some other notorious breeders (rabbits).

Lovely windswept point, plenty of space with picnic tables and BBQ. Lots of small sailing boats from the Dobroyd Aquatic Club were zipping around Iron Cove on this Saturday afternoon.
