Little gem of a point, quiet and secluded… perhaps too secluded. Barcroft Boake hanged himself here, only found 10 days after he disappeared.
Soon after came the Folly Point Treatment Works. Remnants of the North Shore’s biggest sewage works can be seen in nearby Primrose Park, now a good spot for kids flying kites and riding bikes.
And if you’re into this, there’s one of these here.
Where the Dead Men Lie
Deep in the yellow, flowing river,
That’s where the dead men lie,
Under the banks where the shadows quiver,
That’s where the dead men lie;
Where the platypus twists and doubles,
leaving a trail of tiny bubbles;
Rid at last of their earthly troubles,
That’s where the dead men lie.
