Once a World War II naval dockyard, then called Green Point, making Fairmile patrol boats for use in New Guinea, Timor and the islands. They were wooden boats sheathed in copper, and were also built with slight modification for the US Army who called them Fast Supply Boats. (Source: the plaque)
